Once again, Al Michaels and John Madden are back in the booth to do their announcing duties. For the most part, their calls are very accurate to what is actually going on in the game. The bad thing is that their commentary still tends to get old after a while. They also don't seem to provide any emotion in their commentary. The best example of this is when Al tells John that he is going to steal one of his phrases and then he says "Boom!" in a flat monotone voice. No emotion at all was displayed. The actual sounds in the game are done well. Everything from a hard tackle to the fans' reaction to a bad play is all done with quality. The EA Sports Trax are back, and they are scattered throughout the game playing over the stadium's PA system and on the game's menus. This year we are treated to a variety of rock tunes from band such as Franz Ferdinand, Ozomatli, and others.

This is a great year to be a football video game fan. We are treated to two fine football games, but I would have to give the edge to Madden this year. Madden 2005 is more fun to play, and it has a more enjoyable all-around experience. All of the defensive changes made for this year make for a very interesting game. Madden 2005 is definitely the best game in the Madden franchise, and quite possibly the best football game to date.
